What is velocity in Scrum?

Velocity in Scrum is a metric that shows the amount of work (usually in story points) completed by the team in one sprint.

Velocity helps to:

• Assess the team's productivity.
• Plan the amount of work for future sprints.
• Track the project's progress.

For example, if the team completed tasks totaling 30 story points in the previous sprint, then the velocity is 30. Using this value, it is possible to forecast how many sprints will be needed to complete the remaining work.
