What is PI Planning?

PI Planning (Program Increment Planning) is a key event within the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology, designed to plan work for the next program increment (usually 8–12 weeks).

During PI Planning, teams gather together (in person or remotely) to:

• Discuss the goals and priorities of the increment.
• Align dependencies between teams.
• Estimate and assign tasks.
• Formulate a common plan and commitments.

This event helps synchronize the work of multiple teams, improve communication, and increase transparency of the development process at the program or portfolio level.
