How does a Use Case differ from a User Story?

Use Case and User Story are different ways of describing requirements, aimed at different levels of detail and audiences.

• Use Case is a more formal and detailed description of the interaction between the user and the system. It includes scenarios, steps, alternative paths, and conditions. It is usually used for system analysis and design.

• User Story is a short, simple description of functionality from the user's perspective, often in the format: "As [role], I want [goal], so that [benefit]." It is used in Agile for planning and prioritizing tasks.

Example of a User Story:

As a user, I want to be able to reset my password so that I can regain access to my account.

A Use Case for this might include detailed steps, checks, and exceptions.
