Who assigned you specific tasks in your last job?

In my last job, tasks were assigned by the team leader or project manager. Usually, they distributed tasks during meetings or through a project management system (e.g., Jira), considering priorities and each developer's current workload. Sometimes, tasks came directly from the product manager, but always with subsequent discussion with the supervisor.
