How do you assess your level — mid or senior?

The assessment of a developer's level — mid or senior — depends on several factors:

• Depth of technical knowledge: a senior typically has a deeper understanding of architecture, design patterns, and can make decisions affecting the entire project.

• Experience in solving complex problems: a senior can independently solve non-standard and complex problems, while a mid-level can perform tasks of medium complexity with some support.

• Mentoring skills: a senior often acts as a mentor for less experienced colleagues, helping them grow.

• Responsibility for the project: a senior can take responsibility for key modules or the entire project, participate in planning and task estimation.

• Proficiency with tools and technologies: a senior is well-versed in the Java ecosystem, knows best practices, and can optimize code.

If you confidently solve complex problems, help colleagues, make architectural decisions, and have broad technical knowledge, your level is senior. If you are still on the way to this, perform tasks with support, and are developing — you are more likely mid.
