Was this your custom development? Why didn't you consider specialized solutions like Camunda?

Custom development could have been chosen for several reasons:

• The project requirements were specific and not fully covered by standard BPM systems like Camunda.
• Deep integration with existing code and business logic was needed, which is easier to implement with custom solutions.
• Licensing or budget constraints might have made the use of third-party solutions undesirable.
• The desire to have full control over the process and the ability to customize.

Camunda and similar solutions are excellent for complex business processes with visual modeling and BPMN support, but if the project is small or processes are simple, a custom solution can be more lightweight and flexible.
