At what point will you report that you are behind schedule?

Reporting that you are running behind schedule should be done as early as possible, as soon as it becomes clear that a task or a stage of work may be delayed. This allows:

• To timely adjust plans and expectations of the manager and the team.
• To avoid accumulating technical debt and stressful situations.

For example, if during the development of a feature you find that the task is more complex than expected, or external dependencies that slow down the work appear, you should immediately notify the manager and the team, rather than waiting for the deadline.
