What is the difference between async void methods and async Task methods?

Methods with a return type of async void in C# differ from async Task in the following ways:

• Exception Handling: Exceptions occurring in async void methods cannot be caught with await and lead to application crashes, whereas in async Task exceptions can be caught when awaiting the task.

• Usage: async void is intended only for event handlers, where the method cannot return a value and its completion is not awaited. For all other cases, async Task is recommended.

• Tracking Completion: async Task methods allow the calling code to await the completion of the asynchronous operation, which is not possible with async void.

Example:

// Correct for event handler
async void Button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    await SomeAsyncOperation();
}

// Correct for asynchronous method
async Task LoadDataAsync()
{
    await SomeAsyncOperation();
}

// Call
await LoadDataAsync(); // can be awaited

Using async void outside of event handlers is not recommended due to error management complexity and task lifecycle issues.
