A 12-hour shift schedule and on-call duties are often necessary practices in SRE and platform engineering, especially to ensure 24/7 support and quick incident response. Personally, I approach this with understanding and readiness, provided the schedule is organized fairly and there is an opportunity to compensate for the workload with rest. Working in the office can also be beneficial for team interaction and quick knowledge exchange, although a hybrid or remote format often increases productivity and comfort. The main thing is that working conditions promote effective task execution and maintain a balance between work and personal life.
