Does a function in Python have to return a value?

No, it is not necessary. If the return statement is missing or used without an argument, the function implicitly returns None.

def my_function():
    pass # The function does not have an explicit return

result = my_function()
print(result) # Will output None

def another_function(a, b):
    c = a + b # Calculation without a return statement

result2 = another_function(2, 3)
print(result2) # Will also output None
