What is managing up?

Managing up — is the skill of effectively interacting with management and stakeholders higher in the hierarchy. It includes proactive informing, managing expectations, understanding management's priorities and goals, as well as the ability to communicate your ideas and problems in a way that they are understood and supported. For a product manager, this is especially important to secure project support, obtain necessary resources, and align strategic decisions.
