What is gating and feature limits?

Gating is a mechanism for restricting access to certain product features for different user groups. It is usually used to control who can use new or premium features and when. For example, a feature may only be available to users with a paid subscription or those who have completed a certain stage.

Feature limits are restrictions on the use of certain functions, such as limits on the number of requests, the number of objects created, or the duration of usage. These limits help control load, encourage switching to paid plans, or manage resources.

Example: in a SaaS product, free users can create up to 3 projects (feature limit), and access to advanced analytics is only available to paid subscribers (gating).
