What is a power-interest matrix?

Power-interest matrix — is a tool for analyzing and managing project stakeholders. It helps classify interested parties along two axes: level of influence (power) and degree of interest (interest).

The matrix is usually divided into four quadrants:

• High power, high interest: key players who need active engagement and information.
• High power, low interest: important to keep satisfied but not overloaded with details.
• Low power, high interest: inform and involve to maintain their interest.
• Low power, low interest: minimal attention, basic information is sufficient.
