What is a user story?

User story — is a short, simple description of a system's functionality from the end user's perspective. It is formulated in a format that helps the development team understand the value that this feature brings.

Typical structure of a user story:

As a [user type], I want [goal], so that [benefit/reason].

Example:

As a registered user, I want to be able to reset my password to regain access to my account.

A user story helps focus on user needs, facilitates planning, and prioritization of tasks in Agile and Scrum processes.
