What is the purpose of the @Ignore annotation in JUnit?

The @Ignore annotation in JUnit is used to disable a test method or an entire test class.

Main reasons for use:

• Temporary disable: The test is unstable, failing due to external factors, or requires refinement.
• Exclude resource-intensive tests: Tests that require a lot of time or external resources can be disabled from the main build and run separately.
• Disable outdated tests: Tests that are no longer relevant after refactoring or changes in requirements.

Example of usage for a method:

// JUnit 5
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Disabled;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;

class ExampleTest {

    @Test
    void passingTest() {
        // This test will be executed
    }

    @Disabled("Reason for disabling the test")
    @Test
