Tell about your mentoring experience with juniors — what was the essence and what were the difficulties?

In my experience mentoring juniors, the main essence was to gradually introduce them to the project and team culture, as well as to develop basic technical skills and understanding of development processes. I helped them understand the application's architecture, explained principles of OOP and design patterns, and paid attention to writing clean and maintainable code.

Difficulties arose because each junior had a different level of preparation and rate of learning. Sometimes it was necessary to adapt the approach and explain the same things in different ways. It was also important to maintain motivation and not overload the newcomers so that they would not lose interest and would not be afraid to ask questions.
