Pixel (from English pixel — picture element) — is the smallest element of an image on a screen or in a graphic file. It represents a dot with a specific color and brightness. In digital graphics, an image consists of a grid of such dots, each displaying part of the picture.

For example, a smartphone screen is made up of millions of pixels, and each pixel can have its own color, which together form a visible image. The higher the pixels per inch (PPI), the greater the detail and clarity of the image.
