What do you do if you realize you don't have enough time to complete a task within the scheduled deadline?

If I realize that I am not going to complete a task within the scheduled deadline, I take the following steps:

1. Assessing current progress and reasons for delay. I analyze what is taking more time and why.
2. Prioritizing the task. I determine if it is possible to simplify or break the task into smaller parts to at least accomplish the minimally necessary functionality.
3. Communicating with the team and management. I inform about the possible delay, explain the reasons, and suggest solutions — for example, reallocating resources or changing deadlines.
4. Optimizing work. I try to eliminate distractions, use more effective tools or methods.
5. Documenting changes. I record new agreements and update the work plan.
