How do you assess your level of proficiency in English?

Typically, the level of English proficiency for technical specialists is assessed across four aspects: reading technical documentation, understanding spoken language, written communication, and conversational practice.

For junior and middle levels, confident reading and understanding of technical texts, as well as basic written communication skills (such as writing comments and simple emails), are usually sufficient. Spoken English may be at an intermediate level, adequate for discussing work-related topics.

It is important to be honest in your assessment, for example:

• I read technical documentation without problems.
• I can write and understand simple emails and comments.
• My spoken English is at a level that allows me to participate in discussions, but with a limited vocabulary.

Having certificates (such as IELTS, TOEFL) is a plus.
