The test engineer participates in almost all stages of the software lifecycle (SDLC):

1. Planning stage: Participates in defining quality requirements, risk assessment, planning testing strategies and scope.
2. Requirements analysis stage: Analyzes and clarifies requirements, identifies ambiguities and incompleteness, develops test scenarios based on requirements.
3. Design stage: Analyzes architecture and design, participates in designing test frameworks and test environment.
4. Development stage: Conducts early tests (early involvement), participates in developing automated tests (if applicable).
5. Testing stage: Main activity – executing various types of tests (functional, non-functional, regression, etc.), analyzing results, registering defects, tracking their fixes.
6. Deployment / implementation stage: Tests after deployment, verifying functionality in the production environment.
7. Maintenance stage: Conducts regression tests when releasing patches, updates, or new versions, analyzes user feedback.
